PROFILES
Profile - Julie Billinger
I was born into the Harness Racing Industry and have been actively involved all my life, I grew up in Perth where my family were professional harness racing trainer/drivers and was the Clerk of the Course for the Lady Reinswomens Association.
On returning to Adelaide in 1980 I worked for SAGASCO Resources for 13 years as Administration Coordinator and Personnel Secretary until leaving to have our first child. I am married to Darren and we had two children Kelly (dececased) and Jodie 16 years.
After marrying Darren we moved to a 40 acre property at Two Wells where we trained a large team of horses for 10 years. During this time both Kelly and Jodie grew up with horses and Jodie chose to continue through the pony ranks until she retired last season.
I have been a member since 2002 and became a Committee Member of the SAHRPA during the 2008/2009 season and in October 2008 created the pony website www.saponytrots.com. I was President for the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 season. I am now Vice President for the 2011/2012 Season.
Profile – Jan Cox
Jan started off in Pony Club in her younger years then moved on to showing and finally into Harness Racing. This is where she met her husband, Ron Cox and they have been married for many years.
Her first involvement in pony racing was during the 1989/90 season with her pony ‘Black Eyed Susan’ and then she joined the South Australian Harness Racing Pony Committee in 1991/1992 and continued until 2006/2007, she was Treasurer from 1991/1992 to 2000/2001.
These days Jan volunteers at the Adelaide Zoo and Riding for the Disabled.
Profile - Michelle Goble
I grew up at the trots through the involvement of my parents and grandfather.
I am married to Terry and we have two sons, Bailey and Jasper. I was not involved in the pony trots as a child as my pony was 13.2 hands which was over the height allowed. My son, Bailey, began racing last year after he became interested as a five year old from watching the pony races.
This is my first year on the committee and I look forward to working together to promote and enhance this fun sport.
Profile - Jacob Starick
I have grown up with an interest in harness racing with my Mums side of the family having a long involvement. My Grandpa, Lloyd Fraser has held a trainers/drivers licence for many many years and bred many horses. I help him out with track work when I can. I got into pony racing by going down to the ponies with a friend and driving his ponies. I then got my own ponies, "Lord Monty" and "Cheeky Charlie" and had great success in my last season with my fast class pony, Cheeky Charlie winning 13 races. I drove ponies for 5 seasons and really enjoyed it.I have completed my schooling, at Xavier College and then finished year 11 and 12 at St Patricks Technical College last year. I am now in the second year of my carpentry apprenticeship working for the family business, "Starick and Sons Constructions".
This is my first season on the committee and I look forward to being part of the club.

This will be my second year going on the SAHRPA Committee. I hope everyone has a positive and fun year and that everybody gets on well and that the kids enjoy doing the sport they love.
