After an afternoon of showers the decision was made to continue with the race meeting and luckily as the weather fined up and it was a nice mild night.

Each pony stepped away well and were all trotting along nicely.  Turning for home Chickabarquar was in front with Eddy's A Fake pulling wide around PJ and Pee Wee 50.  Swamp Fire and Ben Ten were close behind.  Half way down the straight Eddy's A Fake was coming quickly as Chickabarquar was reluctant to go to the line but the line came up soon enough and Chickabarquar won by a length for a very happy Emma Johnson with Eddy's A Fake second and close up was Pee Wee 50 for Lachlan Ramsay having his first race drive.  Fourth placing was almost a deadheat with Swamp Fire beating Ben Ten by a whisker.

Turning for home Westbury Bogart was in the lead, Summer Surprise on his outside and Mr Mischief coming wide around the corner.  Mr Mischief dashed to the lead giving young Bailey Hoare back to back wins.  Summer Surprise just grabbed Westbury Bogart in the shadows of the post to finish second.

The driver of Midnight Star, Sharni Newman was determined to get her first win in over 12 months so with hard driving was catching the front marker Our Sir Patchalot.  Midnight Star in an out of character mood gave Sharni a little pig-route.  After getting going again Midnight Star used the sprint lane to go past Our Sir Patchalot and it looked like her night as the commentator declared her she pulled up with 10 metres to go and veered up the track in front of Our Sir Patchalot who had to restrain and Crackerjack on the outside and Lets Tango on the inside.  A blanket could have been thrown over the four ponies as they crossed the line.

As Crackerjack had galloped over the concluding stages of the event and made ground he was relegated to 4th position.  The final placings were Midnight Star first, Our Sir Patchalot second and Lets Tango third.

Born To Be Wild

Cameron Jacques

Born To Be Wild started off the front mark but was very slow to begin this week as he was overtaken after 100m.  Entering the 600m mark it was a bunched field as Aussie went to the front for Jason Kittel with the field hot on his tail.  At the back gate Lapanacaton went inside Aussie and took over the lead for the next 100m with the two youngsters Nicholas Brown and Jason Kittel going neck and neck with Aadelaidee Lady about to swoop.

At the 200m mark Jason said 'go' on Aussie and she kicked away to win with Aadelaidee Lady finishing second and Lapanacaton third.

It was a momentous occasion with Aussie winning this race as this was the pony that Jason's mum Melanie use to drive in pony races.  Great effort Aussie.
