Port Pirie - 22 May 2009

There were two families which made the 2 ½ hour trip to Port Pirie last Friday night and by the sounds of it they all had a good night.

On arrival, the drivers received a nice tin of goodies and the Ponies were allocated stables in the main stable area and their names were even on the Stall Directory at the gate entrance, the ponies were also allowed to warm up in the parade ring.

Jacqui Hall, Lyndon’s wife put a whole page in the race book about the ponies and their drivers.

The ponies raced after Race 2 and Race 4 with photos and presentation to the drivers with also a on track interview with Marcus Fitzgerald after Race 4.

The drivers were given a nice trophy and cap each.  Angela was very proud of the 3 drivers as the results for the 2 races had a margin of no more than 1 metre between the 3 ponies in both races with the results as below:

1st Little Paleface - Emma

2nd Wandarra Tess - Jack Wenham

3rd Mr Murphy - Corey

1st Mr Murphy - Corey

2nd Little Paleface - Emma

3rd Wandarra Tess - Jack Wenham

The club also were appreciative towards the parents and grandparents who took the ponies, giving the 2 families Float money.

A good night was had by Emma, Corey, Pam & Lane; and Jack, Helen & Don Wenham and Angela Wise.

We would like to thank the above for attending the Port Pirie meeting and the Port Pirie Harness Racing Club for making it a success.

There was a discussion to having the ponies there again in our racing season, hopefully in school holidays.
